Basic Information

HASS.Agent is a Windows companion client for Home Assistant, implemented in .NET 6, designed to let Windows PCs integrate tightly with a Home Assistant instance. It was created to receive notifications (including images), expose the PC as a media player, send a wide range of hardware and system sensors, and allow Home Assistant to trigger commands on the PC. The app supports actionable notifications, quick actions via a hotkey interface, a WebView for dashboards, and a satellite service to collect sensor data and execute commands even when no user is logged in. The repository provides the application source, signed installers and zip packages, documentation and onboarding guidance, and integration instructions. HASS.Agent is free and open source under the MIT license and the project is supported with docs, an issue tracker and community channels for help and translations.

Features
Core features include Windows toast notifications with optional images and actionable buttons that allow interaction from the desktop, a Media Player device with playback control and text-to-speech, Quick Actions accessible via a global hotkey and assignable per-action shortcuts, a set of built-in Commands (currently 24) and Sensors (currently 37) to expose system and hardware state to Home Assistant, a WebView mode to display dashboards without a separate browser, and a Satellite Service for background sensor collection and command execution when no user is logged in. Entities are dynamically discovered from Home Assistant and commands and sensors can be automatically added to the Home Assistant instance. The project ships installers, release packages, onboarding flows and developer documentation.
Use Cases
HASS.Agent lets Home Assistant users monitor and control their Windows PC as part of their smart home, surfacing rich notifications on the desktop and enabling immediate responses via actionable buttons to reduce friction. It makes the PC a controllable media player and supports text-to-speech for announcements. Quick Actions and hotkeys speed up frequent tasks and allow fast control without opening Home Assistant. Commands enable automations to perform system-level operations and sensors provide detailed telemetry for monitoring and triggers. The Satellite Service enables telemetry and remote commands even with no active session. The project is documented, free, open source and backed by community support and translation tooling to simplify setup and troubleshooting.
