Basic Information

OpenOps is a no-code FinOps automation platform designed to help organizations reduce cloud costs and streamline cloud financial operations. It provides a library of customizable, pre-built workflows for tasks such as allocation, unit economics, anomaly management, workload optimization and safe de-provisioning. The platform includes an Excel-like database called OpenOps Tables and a visualization system called OpenOps Analytics for reporting and analysis. OpenOps integrates with major cloud providers and many third-party FinOps and communication tools. It supports human-in-the-loop controls, workflow versioning and traceability, and can be run as a managed cloud service or installed locally via a docker-compose deployment. The project is open source under the Apache 2.0 license and offers documentation and a community for contributors.

Features
Pre-built FinOps workflows based on FinOps best practices covering cost optimization, tagging, budgeting, allocation and reporting. A no-code workflow editor that lets non-technical users build or customize automations while allowing code-level access when needed. Deep integrations with cloud providers and third-party FinOps, database, analytics and communication platforms. Human-in-the-loop controls for approval workflows across multiple channels. Workflow versioning, testing, logs and traceability for auditability. Centralized management through OpenOps Tables with capabilities to approve, dismiss, mark false positives and snooze opportunities. Built-in visualization with OpenOps Analytics. Distribution options include a managed cloud service and a docker-compose based self-hosted installation.
Use Cases
OpenOps consolidates optimization opportunities from native and third-party FinOps visibility tools and suggests practical, implementable actions to reduce cloud spend. It automates repetitive FinOps processes while preserving human oversight through HITL controls, enabling collaboration between FinOps practitioners, engineers, DevOps, finance and leadership. Workflow versioning and logs provide traceability and governance for changes and approvals. The bundled tables and analytics make it easier to track opportunities, measure impact and report to stakeholders. Deployment flexibility allows organizations to choose managed hosting for ease of operation or a self-hosted docker-compose install for control. The platform lowers the barrier for non-technical users to implement cost-saving measures and operationalize FinOps.
