Basic Information

vibe-tools is a command line toolkit that lets AI coding agents extend their capabilities by delegating tasks to an AI team and using advanced skills. It is designed to be installed globally as a Node package and to integrate with coding agents such as Cursor Composer, Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, Cline and Roo by writing instruction files into IDE-specific rule files. The CLI exposes commands that let agents perform web research, whole-repository analysis, planning, documentation generation, browser automation, YouTube analysis and direct model queries. It integrates multiple AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Perplexity, OpenRouter, ModelBox, xAI/Grok) and requires API keys for Perplexity and Google Gemini for core features. The installer can run interactively or non-interactively for CI environments and automatically manages Playwright browser installation and environment configuration.

A broad command set tailored for agent workflows including web (Perplexity) search, repo (Gemini/large context) analysis, plan generation, doc generation, ask (direct model queries), browser automation (Stagehand using Playwright), youtube analysis, github and linear integrations, and xcode automation. Flexible provider and model selection is supported via flags and a vibe-tools.config.json file. Authentication can be configured interactively or via environment files and supports API keys, service account JSON for Gemini, Doppler secrets manager integration and multiple GitHub auth methods. Repomix-based repository selection, .repomixignore support, telemetry controls, video recording, console/network logging, chainable browser actions, and CI/non-interactive install behavior are included.

vibe-tools equips AI coding agents with practical capabilities to research, plan and act across codebases and the web. Agents can send an entire repository as context for code review and debugging, generate implementation plans that combine file discovery and focused reasoning, and auto-generate documentation for local or remote repos. Browser automation commands let agents test, reproduce and debug web apps, capture screenshots, logs, network activity and videos. GitHub and Linear integrations provide context-aware issue and PR summaries with review-focused filters. YouTube and web search features extract transcripts, summaries and implementation plans from external content. Configuration and CI modes make it suitable for automated pipelines and local developer environments, improving productivity for teams using agent-driven workflows.
